Repeat offender Levi Jones arrested by EPD for attempted rape and sexual battery

 

Another repeat offender who I reported on in 2022.

Levi Joseph Jones was arrested by EPD yesterday for PC 664/261(a)(2) attempted forcible rape and PC 243.4(a) sexual battery. It is the weekend but I reached out to both EPD PIOs and EPD Commander Leonard LaFrance. I got a response from Commander LaFrance that, "This was a call-for-service handled by Patrol."

3/10/26: The DA filed a complaint today charging Jones with two felonies. Count 1 PC 220 (a) (1) assault with intent to commit a felony; rape. Count 2 PC 664/261(a)(2) attempted forcible rape. Deputy DA Frank Olivares appeared on the case for the People.Public Defender's office appointed. Humboldt Superior Court Judge Lawrence Killoran set bail at $90,000. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo did not ask for an OR bail hearing but reserved the right to address custody status in the future. Preliminary hearing is on March 19.

3/19/29: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 4/17, Public Defender has conflict; Conflict Counsel appointed. Protective order filed and served in court.

4/17/26: Due to power outage, preliminary hearing continued to 5/6.
