On 3/20/26, I noticed a small claims hearing in yet another lawsuit against Mother Bernard House. This one filed by Lost Coast Pest Control claiming breach of past agreement and $5,705 owed.
In a small claims case, parties represent themselves and are not allowed to have lawyers.
Update from this small claim lawsuit will be added when civil minutes are available and after daily court coverage.
I already reported on a 2024 lawsuit filed by Danco Builders vs Providence Mother Bernard House. There is a case management conference scheduled in that lawsuit on 3/23/26.
Any update from that lawsuit will be added to this post.
Not only has the other local media ignored these lawsuits, will they run to City of Eureka and Providence now or will Miles Slattery and Providence provide a spin? Providence and City of Eureka have advertised with certain local media outlets. Will the conservatives and others with money constantly whining about the City of Eureka and low income housing thank me, fund me? Of course not. I don't cater to their fragile egos. I am not controlled by them. They can't handle valid criticism which would help them achieve their objectives.
It is such a waste of time and frustrating doing investigative reporting in Humboldt because there is no funding and no accountability. This kind of coverage is the same as anywhere else in California and the nation right now.
