Everyone has an opinion about who caused the November 1 shutdown. Instead of yelling at HCSO online, most of the online commenters which definitely include "No Kings protesters" and so called "Christians," you cannot fix or take care of an indefinite crisis but you can help just one or two people you know individually and directly. You don't even have to do it for a week or month; do it for a day.
The local churches did not step up during COVID. Individual Christians did. The Catholic Church is the worst. Many of the local Catholics are flush with money and they are the most callous towards those in need. I spent a lot of time with many of you so don't make me call you out publicly.
Instead of tithing this week to an international organization and corporate religious business because that is what most churches are today instead of practicing Matthew 25: 40-45, the scripture or having any sense of community, step up and also help single men and women, working people who use Cal Fresh and help someone you normally would not unconditionally and silently.
This shutdown isn't just about impacting SNAP or CALFresh. Donating to Food for People and just families is being judgmental. That is what I get from those who said they donated and Old Town Coffee Chocolate "special snack."
Free Meal, Food for People, the usual resources will be overtaxed. There are wealthy families in this community who could pick up the phone and call the elected officials of their party to stop tweeting, grow up and compromise. They have not because they are scrooges.
No march this Saturday? You can show up because of TDS and hate but you won't do anything for people who are suffering in your own community.
I chose to focus on Matthew 6:26. This is not just about the shutdown. I think about it every day.
