I have known for a while that Humboldt County Superior Court CEO Kim Bartleson has been working from home except for the occasional meeting. The reason is a personal one that she shared with me and not necessary to broadcast on this blog. She has not been at the courthouse for months and was not at Judge Steven Steward's enrobing ceremony.
Kelly Meara Hattan is the Assistant Operations Manager at Humboldt Superior Court. Kelly Nyberg is the Operations Manager. Ms. Nyberg told me weeks ago she would be retiring.
Today, there was some talk that Ms. Bartleson is on leave and that Ms. Hattan is in charge. I followed up and one source said Ms. Bartleson is on personal leave and two other sources said administrative leave. One source added that it is a personnel issue which makes it hard to find out why. Ms. Hattan is acting CEO in her absence.
I emailed Ms. Bartleson and Ms. Hattan for their official response.
