I went to Ray Christie's Jackson Road Ranch on January 17, 2023 and took some photos. While I was there, I did not see any carcasses but as you can see from the photos above, they were taken from a distance. Mario Avelar told me Ray has not been at the site for months.

I contacted Christie and his business associate Mario Avelar on January 18 to talk before I did this post. Mario said Ray will call you. Today is January 28 and well past the deadline given to them.

Since the continuances last year for medical reasons, has anyone from the Feds, Fish and Game, HCSO or the DA's office even bothered to check on Christie's Jackson Ranch or other properties or the puppies he raises and allegedly sells or what he has been upto?

I have been told by two different sources familiar with the situation and inside knowledge  that Ray or a representative talked to Domingo Santos who is one of  Ray's neighbors on Jackson Ranch Road into selling some of his cows which Ray then turned into a nice profit. I wont add more details to protect my sources. Three different sources confirmed the purchase and sale. Mario Avelar and Ray's brother confirmed it to me in person at a local bank. I also heard Ray maybe leasing or looking to buy some of Santos' property.

I did hear from a fourth source while I was in Arcata that Ray or someone associated with him bought, leased or rented some property near Greenview Market.

I was planning to do this post sometime this week and decided on today. The timing worked out  because I just received a screenshot from Nextdoor about a post by Leah Wood.

According to one of my readers, "The cows in question are not at the Jackson property. They are in the city limits of Arcata."

Does this property mentioned in the Next Door screenshot belong to Ray Christie? Is it being operated by anyone associated with him? That is a question for Ray, Mario, his lawyer, the City of Arcata or any appropriate agency who has current information.

There a ton of comments and while I have included some screenshots, you should go read them all at Next door.

On the subject of agencies doing their jobs, there is a property off Jackson Road, which formerly belonged to the Demello family and now is owned by the State. There is a sign saying environmentally sensitive habitat. On January 17, there was a sheep carcass lying on the road. Ranchers and others in the neighborhood told me there is no one with sheep close by so someone must have dumped it?

No Nextdoor posts expressing outrage about any other property, carcasses or abuse of animals at the State owned property?

I didn't expect Ray to call me back. Ray only calls when he needs something.  Ray is the one who chose to ignore the opportunity to comment and call back.

Ray blows anyone off when he wants and lies about why. At the same time, he is talking to other people and thinks in a small town, he can get away with it?Ray can protest all he wants but his own brother and his potential witness and two faced buddy Joe Manni agree and have said so this to me many times.

I have called him out on it, told his lawyer how I feel about it and him. I didn't Ray when the case was first filed. I gave him a chance after the first trial concluded.  My distrust is back and it has grown due to Ray's actions in the last several months. Ray is always the victim.

Ray and those who enable him misdirect their anger on everyone else instead of looking at their own actions.

Mario has called me back a couple of times but he is silent and does not answer relevant questions. Mario, Ray screwed over  his past lawyers when he didn't need them. What makes you think he won't do the same to you or anyone else?

Ray thought his second lawyer John Cogorno was the greatest thing since sliced bread until he dumped him. It is unfortunate that Ray has Larson Law Firm representing him when there are several other people who have been wronged and destroyed in Humboldt.

Many of you have spoken to me and many of you have had your own experiences with Ray, Mario, Darrell Chistie and Joe Manni. Many of you know the people in the community and those commenting on Nextdoor. Make your own decisions about what you believe. There maybe people you know, including some from the animal rescue community and some environmentalists who may be more sympathetic to Ray than you think.  They may even testify for him. In Humboldt, the public persona and comments do not reflect the private thoughts and alliances of many people.

Ray Christie's case is on for trial setting on 3/8. Most likely, the defense will ask for another continuance because the more it is delayed; the more it benefits "Teflon Ray." There are statute of limitations.

Is there even a point to a second trial 5 years after the original case was filed? The charges have been whittled down to 4 felonies since Larson Law Firm took over. Even if Ray is convicted, this is Humboldt, what consequences will he face? Waste of time.

Humboldt is fed up with the slap on the wrist for criminals from the Humboldt court system. There is selective justice. If you got the money and connections, you can literally get away with murder; just ask Marci Kitchen.

The way this case is being handled by Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis and the DA's office but most of all by the Feds, Fish and Game and HCSO, Ray is laughing all the way to the bank and just like all previous charges against him, there will probably be no consequences.

Certain people always say "Does Ray have money for a lawyer? He won't have money to pay his lawyer." He has already dumped two lawyers and so far, Larson Law Firm is still on his case.

While Ray is sick, several people have seen him in Arcata at the bank, around town and they keep telling me, "is he really sick?" " He does not look sick." How do I know how sick he is? I am not a doctor. I have seen documents from doctors filed by defense.

Agencies and investigators who are paid and have authority and those who should be looking into claims and concerns about Ray are twiddling their thumbs. Is Ray only traveling to L.A. for medical appointments?

While motions were going on last year, initially Mario was posting on Facebook, so was Ray's baby mama Natalia and a few other people with a vested interest in defending Ray.

Law enforcement checks these pages. Certain HCSO deputies do comment on Facebook a lot. I am to believe no one saw these commments? The bumbling investigation for several years by the Feds, Fish and Game HCSO and  Adrian Kamada has screwed up this case. It was evident in the defense motions filed last year regardless of the rulings.

These agencies have given Ray plenty of time to make any changes he wants. Do these agencies know if Ray has transferred or bought anything in anyone else' name? They were certainly blinsided in court with Mario Avelar being in charge of Ray Christie's cattle. So the Santos, Greenview Market or any business and property could be in anyone's name.

No one else gave Ray a chance to tell his side of the story. I did. I paid for that by being further targeted financially, attacked and threatened.

Prior to this post, no complaints about my coverage. Ray's attorney has cited me in many documents. Yet, yesterday I get a threatening post from Mario Avelar.

Instead of attacking me for actually reporting what no other local media has the guts to do, what have the same idiots who can't stand Ray done to hold him accountable for what they claim about him.

Ray and Mario think they are so clever selectively and illegally recording people. Posting some of those videos on Facebook was a dumb move.  Did the same bumbling agencies document any of this because they lost their chance to get evidence of those mistakes.

Ray will smile and say one thing to your face, then gossip and bad mouth you behind your back. He thinks he has me fooled and you fooled. In court, he could fool a juror or two. He has an excellent lawyer. All his lawyer needs is one juror for reasonable doubt. That is always the risk of going to trial.

How many of you that have met privately with me and shared your experiences about Ray, Mario, his brother Darrell or Joe Manni using and disparaging you? In the Humboldt ranching world, there are no perfect people with perfect practices but it seems there are four names that come up repeatedly when I talk to many in Humboldt.  Three of them have sued each other in the past. Three of them are now going on the potential witness list to testify if Christie's case ever goes to trial.

On 1/19, Judge Steven Steward recused himself from the  Christie case according to PC 170.1. As a former Deputy District Attorney, he was the most recent prosecutor for this case.

Judge Timothy Canning was disqalified by Christie's previous lawyers.

It is too bad that Judge Elvine-Kreis continues to claim his relationships with potential witnesses such as current Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada are free of bias. Mr. Kamada, a former Humboldt County Deputy was the prosecutor for Christie's first trial. Elvine-Kreis is lazy. He may not remain the assigned Judge for this trial.
