Orange County Judge admonished by CJP for misconduct

Orange County Superior Court Judge Derek W. Hunt has been publicly admonished by the Commission on Judicial Performance. He took office in 1998. His current term ends on January 2, 2023.

I reported back in May 2020 that Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis is being investigated by the CJP.

The CJP investigations can often take a long time. The CJP  will deny and not comment until they ready to announce publicly. The current lawsuit filed against Elvine-Kreis by former Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin could be a factor in the timing, if there is anything the CJP concludes or releases to the public about that investigation. There can be private discipline and admonishment.

The Commission's statement of facts and reasons regarding Judge Hunt dated July 5 is posted below and can be accessed directlyon the CJP website.

I am not going to list the various posts exclusively reported on the many issues with Judge Elvine-Kreis because they have been many times. The search feature on this blog or a Google search is available to access any posts.
