Another downtown Eureka law office broken into with items stolen

Eureka Police Department is looking for this individual. An incident report has been filed.

There are videos that have been shared on Facebook groups online from local attorney Douglas Kaber.  His office building is directly across from St. Bernard's and near Mikki Moves, a busy intersection.

"This person broke in to my office in downtown Eureka at the corner of 7th and I early Saturday on July 9," said Mr. Kaber.

Mr. Kaber provided me with more details.

"During the early hours of July 9 our offices were burglarized.  The thief stole a laptop computer.  No client information was stored on that computer as it was brand new, delivered by our outside IT company on Friday afternoon, and I was out of the office.  There were a very small number of client files that were stolen, and those clients have already been notified.  Credit monitoring will be provided to those clients at no cost to them.   The theft of the files did not appear to be targeted; they were simply the files my assistant was working on Friday afternoon and so were not locked away. "

"The thief also stole miscellaneous office supplies and all the food from the kitchen.  The most disturbing thing he did, besides the theft, was that he defecated in the hallway.  I’m really at a loss as to why someone would do that.  Nobody in the office recognizes him from the surveillance video, which would seem to rule out that it was personal.  I think it was just a hungry druggie that ate a bunch of food in the kitchen and then really had to go."

"This is what we get for tolerating open hard drug use, trespass 'camping', and vagrancy in our community. "

Another downtown law office broken into with items stolen. I previously wrote about a break in the Owens and Ross office on 6th street in Eureka. There has been subsequent break ins Mr. Owens has posted about in Facebook groups.
