Walking on 5th street in Eureka, I try to focus on the businesses that are still open and support them

I had planned on doing a positive post today on local, small businesses and I will in the future. My mistake was to walk down 5th street.

We should all support the Eureka businesses we like so they can remain open. Last few years, it has been one thing after another.

These are only two examples of businesses closing or have been closed for months. When Security National cannot fill a prime location on 5th street, how is the average person in Eureka struggling paycheck to paycheck feel hope?

There is the Power N Fitness former location that has been empty for years. Roy's has a window boarded up. R & D computers have moved to a new location. It is depressing walking in Eureka for the past 10 years and each year, I avoid Old Town and parts of downtown more.

Each business closing has a reason. COVID 19 and PG & E did not help but most empty storefronts and businesses close because either are people retiring, mismanagement with surly service and not providing what your local customers need, people using the same marketing and promotion services who do not deliver results, little cliques supporting only their inner circle but most of all it is County and City of Eureka failed political leadership and the same people who fund the same people repeatedly.

When you have vision and level the playing field, an entire County prospers.
