Murder suspect Gearold Sotolongo's jury trial was scheduled to start on May 2. Judge Joyce Hinrichs is out sick so it won't be starting today. The trial is being held in Courtroom 3 which is larger than Judge Hinrichs courtroom.
Sotolongo is charged with one count murder and special allegation use of a deadly weapon.
Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor and Deputy DA Jessica Watson is co-counsel. Mr. Zach Curtis is Sotolongo's attorney.
5/3: Jury trial is continued until May 9 when Judge Hinrichs is back. Attorneys were given the option tp start the case tomorrow with Judge Lawrence Killoran or start next Monday. They submitted the matter to Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis who has been disqualified from the case.
5/9: Judge Killoran was in court this morning and it looks like he is hearing motions in limine. Sotolongo has been in custody for 2252 days.
5/12: Jury selection is going on; court is dark on May 13; opening statements are expected to start Tuesday, May 17 but could start Minday, if a jury is picked.
