Would be nice if the Court could inform why 45 minutes later there is no livestream or what is happening with David Anderson sentencing?

Sentencing was scheduled this morning at 8:31 p.m. for convicted human trafficker David Anderson.

It is now 9:12 and no livestream. Whoever the Judge is can turn livestream on and inform people waiting on the public you tube channel why there is a delay. Some Judges are respectful and do so; others are not.

No idea who we are waiting on, the jail, the attorneys or what the reason is for the delay. Forty five minutes late and this is isn't the first time, especially with the Anderson case.

There is another case scheduled so what is the issue? It is now 9:20 and livestream was finally turned on, after this post. Judge Christopher Wilson called the second case.  An hour was wasted by me and other people waiting which was "non productive" as Judge Wilson likes to describe it when he feels his time is wasted. You can't replay the livestream. You cannot just go up on the second floor and check on court minutes. This isn't a Public Health issue. This happened pre COVID.

Judge Wilson granted dark days in the Michael Flowers case and nothing seems to be happening in that courtroom for days.  If livestream isn't on because confidential questioning is going on, how would we know?

This local court backlog is not all COVID related. It is mismanagement and continuances being granted to push things out for the day, for the week for years regardless of the consequences on those who are at the mercy of the a small, rural entrenched court system in California and the most corrupt state I have lived in with the worst leadership.

People's lives and freedoms held hostage because in Humboldt, people are apathetic, afraid to speak, the rest of the media is too busy to collect their  paychecks and keep quiet and the same few people stay in charge for decades.

It increases the amount of work for others to get information about an open court hearing when the livestream is not turned on to communicate what is happening. There are victims, their families and friends as well as defendants' families that depend on court dates and coverage on this blog to know what is happening with their loved ones.  They call, text and email me; not other media. When they can't sign on and don't know how to find information, they call me.

Most people aren't reading press releases that the Humboldt Superior Court sends out. I help people daily with information or how to find information on the Humboldt Superior Court website or about court. Every issue I write about I have experienced or someone has brought to my attention.

Court isn't the only news happening and unlike the rest of the local media, this repeated waste of time is lost opportunities for me to earn money.

Humboldt unprofessionalism and incompetence, not just in courts, but this entire county affects my livelihood and the lives of others.

So how many times do those of you in Humboldt Courts and Humboldt County have to be called out before you stop costing others money and time and grasp that people have rights?

This is the kind of bs happened pre COVID and is worse now when livestream is the only way to attend or follow court. The public and media deserve better communication and respect. We don't have time to waste for the "convenience" of repeated delays and no communication from those Humboldt Superior Court Judges who control their courtroom but can't show basic courtesy.

Is this the amazing job Judge Joyce Hinrichs  referred to yesterday? If this sentencing was rescheduled or delayed, that information should have been stated early on; it takes a minute to turn on livestream.

Anderson sentencing was continued to April 1. The defense said they had not had sufficient time to review the sentencing report.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for this case. Mr. Michael Acosta is Anderson's attorney.

In February, Anderson resolved his case before his jury trial.

Anderson waived his apellate rights, pleaded guilty to four felony charges and a PRCS violation. The plea is for a potential 5 year prison term and any additional time for the PRCS could be served consecutively or concurrently. He will retain custody credits until sentencing. Anderson already has 26 months in actual credits and will get 4019 custody credits. There is discretion by the Court and he may or may not have to register as a sex offender. Remaining counts were dismissed.

Anderson pleaded guilty to one count of attempted pandering, one count of false imprisonment and two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Anderson's PRCS violation was for providing inaccurate address of his residence to the supervising officer.

More details are also in the post linked below.
