Douglas Smith testifies about a trip to Jon Goldberg's property with his father

Douglas Smith, Tim Smith's 16 year old son, testified this morning very briefly.

He looks very much like his father. Very likable, very calm and very honest in his responses. His demeanor was the same on direct examination and cross examination.

Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal asked him about a trip to Jon Goldberg's property in the summer of 2016.

On cross examination,  Smith said yes, when asked if that trip was in mid-September.

Smith said the trip was to socialize but turned into a hunting trip. A photo was shown with three people; one was Goldberg, one was Smith and another a younger boy. Maybe Jon Goldberg's son?

"I recognize it as a picture" taken that day,  Smith testified in response to a question by Mr. ernthal.

He said it was a revolver but he had only seen "three or four" revolvers and "one type."

Mr. Bernthal asked Smith if he had dinner with Jon Goldberg on September 25. He said yes. Douglas Smith said his dad took him to school on September 26.

Smith confirmed Mr. Russo's statement that on that day after seeing caves on the Goldberg property, Jon Goldberg cooked them dinner and gave leftovers to Tim Smith and Douglas Smith for their hunting trip.

Both on direct and cross examination Douglas Smith said he did not see the firearm (in the photo) outside th black holster.
