Trial confirmation was scheduled today for Chad Smith. His jury trial is scheduled for April 2. A pre trial and bail reduction hearing is scheduled for March 28.
Smith is charged with alleged molestation of his stepdaughter and friend. Smith had pages of a handwritten letter in his hand. What that was, will have to wait.
Before the case was called, Smith's attorney Ms. Christina Allbright communicated with him via notes on a legal pad. Smith had questions, as usual.
After that Ms. Allbright spoke privately with Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads. Ms. Eads briefly filled in Amy Smith on that discussion. After the hearing, Ms. Eads talked with Amy Smith.
Ms. Allbright told Judge Dale Reinholtsen that after talking to Ms. Eads, she is requesting a pre trial next week and abail reduction hearing.
"I don't believe we are ready to proceed on April 2 but I need to discuss that and atime waiver with my client."
Amy Smith was at the hearing, with I assume her mother. Victim Witness, and representatives from North Coast Rape Crisis Center were also in court today.
No other media was present in court.
