David and Louise Turpin were unshackled at their last court appearance on March 23,. They were admonished by a deputy for talking to each other in court.
Louise Turpin's sister Elizabeth Flores and cousin Tricia Andreassen visited the Turpins.
From Daily Mail and Good Morning Britain:
Flores said: “Louise was really living in a la-la land that she didn’t do nothing wrong and that she’s going to get out and we’re going to play board games again and just kind of like that attitude, where David was broken.”
Andreassen said: “When we went and saw Louise, we walked out of there and we were like, ‘Oh, my gosh, what in the world are we seeing? Is she just totally insane?’
“Then we went and saw David and he was just sobbing. … I said I don’t know all the things you’ve done and he said, ‘It will come out.’ ”
From the Dr Oz show:
“It was, like, when I looked in her eyes, she was crying at first, like she was so happy to see us. She was crying saying, ‘I’m so happy you’re here,’ ” Flores said, according to a transcript provided by the show. “But, when her eyes cleared up, they were clear. They were sparkly. As I was talking to her, I realized that it’s all fantasy. She’s living a movie. She’s writing her own story. She’s re-writing her story.”
Flores said Louise never asked about her children.
Another status conference is scheduled for May 4. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14.
