Due to lack of an attorney, jury trial for Chad Smith vacated

Third Marsden motion, this time Chad Smith got his wish. Or did he?

Jury trial for April 2 vacated. Next hearing is setting and confirmation of counsel on April 6.

Maybe Chado can duke it out with Jacob Silverman for the most ornery, narcisstic defendant in Humboldt Superior Court?

    1. A Marsden motion is the only means by which a criminal defendant can fire a court-appointed attorney or communicate directly with a judge in a California state court. It is based on a defendant's claim that the attorney is providing ineffective assistance or has a conflict with the defendant.

  2. $$$. His vetted Attorney is apparently not telling him what he wants to hear? I’m SO glad that he is lucky enough to have us all pay for his private legal defense. At least he was kind enough to play his games before the jury selection this time. He certainly has discovered a loop-hole he can jump through to postpone his trial. Maybe he is trying to corrupt the jury pool so he can have a change of venue to a more CHOMO friendly county. Then we will pay for his BS in another county. I can see my taxes raising daily. A mandatory “CHOMO-SMITH” tax. The County is going to have to recoup this circus somehow.

  3. Did he have his bail reduction heard?
