In 2016, James Merrick had a probation hold, will he be released today?
In 2016, James Merrick could not bail out due to a probation hold. Today, a bail hearing was scheduled for Merrick. The motion was continued to March 27 at 8:30 a.m.
Jury trial is scheduled on April 9.
I have reported extensively on Merrick's last two hearings, including that this hearing was scheduled No other media was present for the last two hearings.
Deputy District Attorney Brent Kling is prosecuting the case. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell is representing Merrick.
Merrick's jury trial is scheduled for April 9.
Merrick is charged with five felonies. Count 1 Murder. Count 2 Gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Count 3 DUI causing injury with prior conviction (2015). Count 4 DUI with blood alcohol 0.08% causing injury. Count 5 Hit and run resulting in serious injury or death.
