Jessica Springer laughs during defense closing and her talking with the family prompts jurors to glance back

Things are not quite as bad (as they were before my Jerry Springer post) but the crowding outside the coutroom to get in and the theatrics have started again in the last couple of days.

Recently, it is not everyone, just the same two or three people.

While they were not loud during most of Mr. Russo's closing, there was constant whispering. Jessica Springer and a family member were loud enough that at a point that two alternate jurors glanced back.

Jessica Springer must have forgotten she is a witness in this case.

I wonder if the behavior will be the same during Mr. Bernthal's rebuttal.

You either have class or you don't. One family does; the other has shown from their actions they have absolutely no respect for the Judge, the jury or anyone else.

Grown, mature adults don't need to be told more than once, how to behave. Death does not allow you a selective memory of the facts or to act like a court of law is your living room.

What does not help this juvenile behavior is coddling of the Smith family by those who should be keeping an eye on them and other people afraid to call out a pushy, obnoxious crowd who thinks they are entitled because of their loss.

Others have experienced loss in homicides. They know how to conduct themselves in public and a courtroom despite their grief.
