I certain people in Humboldt, including media and businesses, want to play dirty and not allow competition, free speech or independent reporting, maybe it is time to expose them regionally and nationally?
Anyone considering starting a business or moving here or investing should know what they are getting into and who they will be dealing with on a regular basis.
They should be aware of the part of Humboldt that thrives on gossip and gaslighting to make sure Humboldt stays economically depressed and the abuse of power is maintained. The aversion to outsiders except to take your money.
Throwing out falsehoods in anonymous comments is the Humboldt cowardly way and the cowards have done it to many people. Then if any one speaks up or anyone defends themselves or the people maligned, the gossip factory of losers in Humboldt dismisses it as them having "issues" or comes back with more insults.
If you support racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic comments and online bullying and think national enquirer drivel passes for news, LOCO is your choice.
I was not going to respond to the comments in the link below and I loathe giving LOCO any traffic. And yeah, they do need it with their comments dwindling from hundreds to a few. Out of the traffic they boast, how many clicks are from the same anon commenter?
When there a lot of comments, its usually Hank's approved regulars commenting a gazillion times and mostly unrelated to the topic.
People who actually understand media know that # of comments do not equal traffic, especially anonymous comments.

I am used to this kind of nonsense, especially since I started my blog four years ago. Independent reporting that includes calling out everyone from businesses, politicians, growers, law enforcement and it has consequences.
I have saved screen shots of all my comments, in case Hank or LOCO deletes them. I have saved other comments and private emails.
LOCO is mostly former North Coast Journal staffers. North Coast Journal staffers have many former Times Standard staffers. Look closely at certain stories. The media cabal in Humboldt is funded by the same sources and consists of a bunch of people who back slap each other and have multiple conflicts of interest I have written about many times.
You have state or government employees regurgitating podcasts from their "media friends" and people for years running some online site as a hobby linked on LOCO elsewhere next to actual media sources.
Real reporters and media dont use online trolls to attack the competition or do the bidding of their paid advertisers or use their little clique to silence the community. And, I am not talking about myself; although it does apply to me as well.
I have shared my court knowledge and tipshelped out reporters at every local publication, including Rhonda Parker, Dan Squier. Some are appreciative like Will Houston, Hunter Cresswell, reporters at KIEM, KAEF, freelancer Paul Mann; others are not.
Some think they are all that because they covered one trial and only actual evidence., not jury selection, not every hearing.
No one locally covered courts before they saw the popularity of this blog and no one covers it as I do, even now. I don't get paid to sit around nor is this a hobby for me.
It isn't a competition for me but those getting arrogant after being there a month or few months think so. Do it as intensely and in detail as I have for 4 years and without tips and having attorneys explain everything to you; then we'll see.
No one covers the sexual abuse, rape cases and cases that aren't sensational headlines or take on cases like Randy Cook, Kody Marcelli, Kailan Meserve. Easy to play it safe and not piss off those in power.
I have mentioned this fact about Rhonda Parker being married to Greg Rael before.
She should have disclosed that from the beginning before LOCO courted her to offer what court coverage. That is basic journalism ethic 101.
I have had personal conversations with Rhonda about this as well and she can get upset with me all she wants on about the "grandma" comment but the fact is why hide who she is married to? I will continue to point this out because it is true and it is a conflict of interest.
It is a conflict of interest because the people she covers are her husband's colleagues whether she or LOCO considers it or not.
Especially since LOCO specifically solicited her, took ads from her husband before and while she reported on courts. She is also a former TS staffer. This is how LOCO and the media cabal is, anonymously attack me and others. And not allow any reporting or acknowledge reporting that isnt from those in their Humboldt clique.
Many in local media are not even up on changing guidelines or debate on how to cover cases today. I think nationally recognized journalism institutions know more than LOCO or NCJ about journalism or any other braggart who hasn't worked outside Humboldt.
The media cabal like to lecture people on what is news. Try reporting some news, first. Not press releases and cut and paste documents with a quote thrown in and a byline. NCJ and LOCO have multiple staffers yet their daily output is pathetic. They get scooped hours and days on original news.
There are many people who silently support me and dont comment out of fear of trolls. Can't say I blame them.
All Humboldt "media"( not TV) does is shuffle the same reporters around. No new blood maintains the status quo that has worked "so well" for Humboldt. That is sarcasm.
Humboldt isn't exactly the authority on journalism or cutting edge on anything.
If LOCO or NCJ were real media they would investigate the Patrick McTigue story, they would have reported on the real Manhard Consulting story, they would have reported the Randy Cook case regarding his own grandaughter, they would have taken on Kailan Meserve and his connections and sex trafficking in the cannabis industry and take on real power and corruption in Humboldt. They don't have the guts. Collecting a paycheck and being popular is easy.
