Thanks to EPD and HCSO EOD this potential threat did not cause any harm to the public

On January 18, 2023 at approximately 8:14 a.m., Officers with the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to the report of a suspicious device located near a business at 14th and Short Streets.

Yet, another child porn suspect arrested in just a week

 

51 year old Frank Walter Callaway was arrested by Fortuna Police Department yesterday on an arrest warrant for PC 311.11(a) possession of child pornography which was issued on 1/10. Callaway posted bond. The DA has charged him with that one count. Arraignment is on 2/15.

PG & E helicopters in Blue Lake and Willow Creek today looking at storm damage

 

Megan McFarland, spokesperson for PG&E sent out this information 10 minutes ago.

"Today, PG&E will be using helicopters to patrol our equipment in areas of Humboldt County. Our helicopter – a Bell 407 - will be flying all day today between Blue Lake and Willow Creek in Humboldt County’s Redwood Valley area. These areas were heavily impacted by the storms and conducting aerial patrols will support our restoration efforts."

"As a result of the storms, we already know that we have equipment damage in the areas of Bair Road and Stover Road, including poles down and wires down due to falling trees. Now that we have access in those areas, we will be sending in crews to make assessments and make repairs."

"Petitioner's goal in this case is clear: Stop the Wiyot Tribe's development project that is slated for the City owned parking lot at 5th and D streets."

 

I just did a post two days ago in which I also mentioned the 5th and K parking lot which is now owned by Security National. I mentioned the 5th and D parking lot in that post and a tip I had received about the 5th and D parking lot.

The City of Eureka owns the 5th and D parking lot and have an MOU with the Wiyot to develop it.

Now, one of the four lawsuits filed by Citizens for a Better Eureka involves that parking lot on 5th and D. There is a 5th lawsuit filed by Eureka Housing for All against City of Eureka.

I have written several times and months ago about Commissioner Fran Greenleaf retiring, effective March 1, 2024.  Humboldt Superior Court issued the official press release about her retirement today.

Local attorney Sarah Kaber has been appointed as the new Commissioner. That news was reported in December.

B Honest aka Brian Roberts, are you being honest?

 

This is a response I left on Kym's site in to a comment from B honest aka Second District Supervisor Brian Roberts. He reacted defensively in two posts; he responded respectfully once. I asked him some follow up questions. Based on his meltdown and rudeness on that thread, I doubt he takes me up on my offer. He has been exposed on that thread and remains defiant.Most of Brian's comments are  complaining about press but when asked questions; he choses what to answer and what to ignore. 

Convicted Mark Dare wasted taxpayer money on a resentencing where he will still got sentenced to life

 

I covered convicted molestor Mark Dare's molestation case in detail. I also covered his appeal. On Oct 29, 2021, Dare was sentenced by Judge Kaleb Cockrum to 46 years to life. Dare's resentencing hearing on 1/12 was before Retired Judge Christopher Wilson. Dare was re-sentenced to 42 years to life. Dare wasted taxpayer money to get 4 less years which makes little difference in a life sentence.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for this 2018 case. Former public defender Marek Reavis was Dare's attorney. 

Steve Boudreaux arrested on several sexual abuse charges involving a minor

36 year old Steve Elliot Boudreaux was arrested by  APD yesterday for two violations of PC 287 (c)(1) oral copulation with a minor under 14, PC 288.5(a) continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, two violations of PC 288.7(b) oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under 10 and two violations of PC 288(a) lewd and lascivious acts with a minor.

I have already covered Ms. April Van Dyke when she was Humboldt Deputy Conflict Counsel as well as several posts on her candidacy and being the only one brave enough to challenge incumbent Humboldt Judge Gregory Kreis.

While I have already covered some of what Ms. Van Dyke said in her speech today about not being an insider and the contrast between her and the incumbent, you should watch her kick off speech today. She repeated "I am not an insider" a few times and it was very effective. She is a judge Humboldt County can be proud off. She addressed her experience, what led her to be a lawyer and humble beginnings.

I am aware of the whisperings,  misinformation, tactics being circulated by her opponent and those who enable him.

Ms. Van Dyke addressed them head on. If you want a judge who will treat all fairly, according to the law and not special deals for the Humboldt Connected, you owe it to yourself to meet her, do your research and think for yourself. 

Security National now owns the parking lot by City Hall

I reported in June 2023 that parking lot by City Hall was in escrow with Security National. I was told that SN now owns the parking lot and the fence has been removed.

If you had bothered to search the posts and all the coverage on my blog, you would see that while Landergen was not held to the four felony counts PC 288 (c); (1) lewd and lascivious acts with a minor after the preliminary trial,  he was held to answer on four remaining counts: Count 5 and 6 PC 243.4 sexual battery and Counts 7 and 8 PC 667.61 child molestation. He still has a jury trial scheduled.

For some reason, 99 percent of the few requests to take down a valid post are always from white entitled locals.

48 year old Corey James Moore was arrested by Arcata Police  Department today on the Ramey warrant for PC  311.11 (a), possession of child pornography.

Two key motions scheduled in forcible rape suspect's trial

 

Forcible rape and domestic violence suspect Brandon Shorey's trial confirmation and people's motion to quash records was continued from 1/10 to 1/16 and scheduled in Judge Kaleb Cockrum's courtroom.

Defense motion to arrange appearance of prisoner was granted by Retired Judge Christopher Wilson. In addition to the jury trial on 1/22, there will be a hearing on the motion to introduce evidence of sexual conduct.

A Ramey warrant has been issued for Corey James Moore for PC 311.11 (a) possession of child pornography.
