In Humboldt County, it is who you know and if the good ole boys like you; you can have multiple jobs, get established in business and rules and regulations apply selectively.
Travis Mendes is one of 4 defendants in Ray Christie's federal lawsuit. He has been referred to numerous times in court documents and testimony in the now dismissed 2018 Humboldt criminal case filed against Ray Christie.
Of course, you had to have read all my coverage on that case to get information not covered elsewhere and the other local media did sparse coverage without crucial information.
Travis Mendes and family are advertising organic grassfed beef on Facebook Marketplace. USDA requires you to be certified organic. Mendes Livestock was established in 2018.
Mendes was a full time HCSO deputy then and Ray Christie's case was ongoing. His brother Tanner Mendes is involved in Mendes livestock. Tanner works at CALFire.
I don't know about daddy Alan Mendes, a former HCSO deputy, now wih the Ferndale Police.
There is a Humboldt correctional deputy named Brittany Mendes. I am fairly certain she is from the same family.
Mendes Livestock advertises on Facebook, according to the sources who provided me information. Out of the various sources, one of my sources who I have spoken to several times, contacted Mendes Livestock about purchase and was told Mendes Livestock has meat slaughtered by a mobile butcher & they sell to people directly. This is without USDA approval which is illegal in CA and this meat is not USDA inspected.
The same source spoke with Travis' brother Tanner and asked about the organic protocol. Tanner said they said they use conventional wormers every month on cows. This is is illegal nationwide. And they treat cows with vaccines. Once a cow is given conventional wormer, the cow is banned for life from being used for organic meat.
Travis Mendes is doing what he accused Ray Christie of doing. I tried calling the Humboldt Ag Commissioner Office and they do not have a list of certified organic beef businesses. I looked up Mendes Livestock with CA Secretary of State and California Department of Health. Listed below are the laws in California for selling organic beef.
