Will Jack Nye improve his life given that chance and diversion?

I have been adding updates to my August 30, 2026 post on Jack Nye. The last one was on 9/30 and it mentions the next court date which was 10/13/26.

He has two cases. In one of those cases, he was granted mental health diversion by Humboldt Superior CourtJudge Lawrence Killoran.

This is from my August 30 post.

The defendant now has that chance. He is now provided with a choice to improve his life." These words are on page 3 of Humboldt Superior Court Judge Lawrence Killoran's four page ruling on August 26. Nye was granted mental health diversion.

Nye has been through three attorneys; all paid for by taxpayers. Currently, he is represented by Ken Bareilles.

On 10/13,  Nye had a preliminary hearing in CR2603246; instead he entered a plea. Deputy DA Brandon Boozari is the prosecutor for both of Nye's cases. Humboldt Superior Court Presiding Judge Kelly Neel took Nye's guilty to Count 1 possession of meth in jail on 10/13. As of that day, Nye has 212 days in the Humboldt County jail. Sentencing is on 11/6/26.

In CR2600171, confirmation of order is scheduled for 10/20. I am not covering that case anymore or diversion review hearings.

Update from sentencing will be added to this post.
