Two key motions scheduled in forcible rape suspect's trial

 


Forcible rape and domestic violence suspect Brandon Shorey's trial confirmation and people's motion to quash records was continued from 1/10 to 1/16 and scheduled in Judge Kaleb Cockrum's courtroom.

Defense motion to arrange appearance of prisoner was granted by Retired Judge Christopher Wilson. In addition to the jury trial on 1/22, there will be a hearing on the motion to introduce evidence of sexual conduct.

Shorey's 2023 assault case is trailing.


1/16: Hearing today was scheduled for trial confirmation and people's motion to quash records. Ruling on motion to quash will be issued 1/17/24. Defense motion for discovery denied.



1/17:  People make an offer.Subpoenaed records provided to defense for copying.


Case is on for trial assignment on 1/19.

1/19: At trial assignment, defense request for continuance granted. 1/22 date and motion to introduce evidence of sexual conduct vacated. Trial confirmation on 2/14 TC; jury trial on 2/26.


2/14: In rape case, the trial confirmation was continued by the People; rescheduled for 2/21. Defense motion for discovery denied. Jury trial and motion hearing to introduce evidence of sexual conduct scheduled for 2/26. Assault case is trailing.
