More paperwork was filed by certain candidates well before the required deadline of the 25th. I just checked this evening. While it does take election staff a day or two to upload redacted forms, some candidates and their campaigns are on top of it.
Second District Supervisor Michelle Bushnell got a $1,500 contribution from James and Marie Johnson.
Humboldt Superior Court Judge Candidate April Van Dyke filed her 460. She got contributions from every single former co-worker and her boss at Conflict Counsel. Some have even endorsed her. The only name not on the 460 is Deputy Conflict Counsel Zach Curtis. He could have donated a smaller amount or stayed neutral. Knowing him, the latter is more likely a possibility. Mr. Curtis is a former Deputy DA and private attorney. He is one of the many private and public defenders who has recused incumbent Judge Gregory Kreis. Speaking of Kreis, he is running all these ads, where is that money coming from? Where is his form other than that one mysterious $5,000 contribution?
Baykeeper's Jennifer Kalt and Eureka Councilmember Scott Bauer donated a $100 each to Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson. He also got $1,500 from Laborers Internstional of North America Local No. 324-FL-CIO. Wilson's challenger who talks big about transparency has declined to participate in KMUD forums and has also not filed any paperwork regarding donations. Whose paying for the signs, including the one in Eureka on 5th street in front of Heart of the Emerald Dispensary. Eureka is not even the district Gomez is running for.
