Kreis got $5,000 from an organization that does not exist and files an incomplete 497 form

Humboldt Superior Judge Gregory Kreis filed a 497 form on 1/2/24. The box  checked for contribution type is other. There is no address which other 497 forms have provided. When I tried to look up this organization; I found nothing under this name.

Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters Juan Cervantes was back in the office today. I am still waiting for his response about Third District Mike Wilson's 497 form. Supervisor Wilson filed an amended form after my post.  I sent an inquiry to Mr. Cervantes about Judge Kreis' 497. I am sure Judge Kreis will "fix his mistake"  now, like Supervisor Wilson, after my post.

Supervisor Wilson has run for office a few times. Judge Kreis was appointed last time. While this maybe his first time filing paperwork for an election or whoever filed it for him, it is sloppy and inexcusable for a judge. Especially with endorsers like First District Supervisor Rex Bohn, Humboldt Sheriff Billy Honsal and Eureka Councilmember Leslie Castellano.

What is this mysterious organization? If they exist and gave Kreis $5,000, they should change their name because judicial excellence and Kreis in the same sentence is a joke and an oxymoron.

Mr. Cervantes got back to me on 1/5/24 and said  a complaint can be filed with the FPPC.

I have contacted the FPPC and forwarded them my posts and information. This is part of my email to them. "I dont know if I want to be the person to file a  complaint since I am covering the election but I will be giving the information and link provided to me by our local Registrar of Voters to my readers in case a reader or member of the public may want file a complaint. And another reason is based on my years as a journalist, especially covering Humboldt, I have found state agencies overseeing complaints from Humboldt lacking in follow up or consequences. I will update my post to let my readers know that I have informed you of both these forms."

Response from FPPC on 1/8/24:

Good morning, Mr. Chiv,

Thank you for the information. Please note that complaints must be filed through the Electronic Complaint System:

Complaints may be filed anonymously.

Sincerely,

Enforcement Division Staff

I am not linking all the posts I have done on Judge Kreis and the primary election for the nth time. By now, if you haven't read those posts; use the search feature on the blog.

1/6: As predicted, Kreis claims he amended his 497,which was after this post was published and a constituent asking him this question. It is the weekend so I will check with elections next week and if it was filed on Friday, it may take a day or two for the document to be uploaded on the election website. His response to the question is vague, as is, Kreis' response on his website. The 497 form was uploaded on 1/8/24.
