Hostages safe but 14th street incident ends with OIS involving the suspect

EPD posted another update on Facebook at 1:05 a.m. on 1/23. "The Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has completed their investigation and all roadways have been opened."

6: 10 p.m. EPD is still processing the scene. EPD PIO Laura Montagna had told me there will be an update later tonight and a press release will be issued on 1/23. That will be added to this post.

This morning Eureka Police Department posted a safety alert on Facebook. EPD initially responded to the 1400 block of Union following a report that a juvenile had been stabbed. After it was determined that the suspect had barricaded himself in the residence with multiple hostages, SWAT was called to assist.
