Frequently arrested Misty Miller, blood stained leggings, surveillance videos, DHHS County office and items from crime scene connected to Moore in today's testimony

Murder suspect Daniella Moore's preliminary hearing resumed this morning. This is Day 3 of the preliminary hearing. Eureka Police Department Senior Detective Ron Harpham is testifying.

I had no idea DHHS would be mentioned in today's testimony. In previous coverage, I mentioned that I worked at CWS with Hannah Hayhurst's mother.

Frequently arrested Misty Miller, blood stained leggings, surveillance videos as well as the purse and a lanyard found at the crime scene and what role they play in the investigation have been covered so far in the morning's testimony.

Why was Moore at the DHHS County office with Miller on July 3?

Moore attacked Miller unexpectedly. Stabbed her 14 times. Miller knew Moore. Moore made growling noises while stabbing Miller.

At the Blue Room in Garberville, the bartender asked patrons to stay while she is closed due to concerns for safety. Moore asked bar patrons if she was dead and talked to someone who was not there.

CA DOJ criminalist Sara Larson testified about blood and DNA analysis on leggings, trimming shears and Moore's jeans.

People have finished presenting their evidence. Nothing from defense. We are on break. At 11:15, there will be arguments and then the ruling by Judge Kaleb Cockrum.

Moore was held to answer on all charges. Arraignment on information is on July 20.

Assistant Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Moore's attorney.

Hayhurst's father is in the courtroom. He is wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt. There is a woman with him.

Moore has entered an additional plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Moore was  shaking and swinging her legs in the courtroom.

Det. Harpham reviewed surveiilance video from the DHHS County office on July 3, Rite Aid on Harris and E streets, Ring video from the neighbor who lived across Moore, the Shell gas station and from July 3, footage from Chevron in Garberville and the Blue Room bar.

Det. Harpham provided specific times and details about the assault on Miller. Moore's cream colored Chevy Cavalier, her interactions with Miller, how Miller's purse ended up in the alley near Moore's house and the lanyard found on the crime scene being Moore's was all part of Det. Harpham's testimony.

Miller knew Moore as "Daniella" and she got a ride from her on July 3.  Miller told Det. Harpham that "for no reason", Moore started punching her stabbing her. Miller said by looking in Moore's eyes, she thought Moore was trying to kill her. Miller managed to get out of the car and get away. She tried to get help at a mini mart close by but no one would help her. Fifteen minutes later, she was able to reach the police.

Miller gave a physical description of Moore. "Big and ugly. 40 years old. I don't know her race but she is brown." Miller also identified Moore later in a photo lineup.

Miller had a puncture wound on one of her hands. An injury in the scalp area which required 4 or 5 sutures. Miller told Det. Harpham several times that she was stabbed 14 times.

"There is no reason to inflict these injuries on Ms. Hayhurst other than a sadistic purpose," Ms. Eads said  when arguing about the torture charge.

"This was a violent brutal, grotesque attack but that itself does not make it torture," said Mr. Russo.
