Max Guider, locally known as Timber, was devastated to return home on Sunday, July 18th to find his home completely destroyed, with his two dogs (Rufio and Beans) inside.
Guider has been a member of the Honeydew Volunteer Fire Department since he moved to the area In 2017. In years past, the firefighter has also helped other fire victims and has now become one himself. The house fire on Wilder Ridge Road in Honeydew broke out Sunday evening, July 18th, just after 6pm. Peter Lawsky, Chief of Telegraph Ridge Volunteer Fire, responded to the fire and was devastated to learn that it was the home of a fellow volunteer. “He’s a really good guy,” said Chief Lawsky, “ He (Guider) would always respond to incidents within our district to offer mutual aid during emergencies.”
His landlord and local emergency dispatcher, Claire Trower, stated that Guider had been conducting fuel reduction projects through her property up to the day it burned. “He did an amazing job and I believe his work saved the nearby fire house from burning.” When discussing Guider’s GoFundMe, Trower stated, “He needs it, he lost everything.”
Guider lost his home and two best furry friends in the fire as well as his entire savings. His mother, Joyce Guider, has created a GoFundMe.
