Thank City of Eureka's Kristen Raymond for helpful information that is simple and to the point

There is so much information out there about COVID 19 assistance but what matters to people struggling is up to date, accurate information. Here is the latest information on rental and utility assistance for Eureka.

The City of Eureka is very prompt in responding. Thanks to City Manager Miles Slattery and City Clerk Pam Powell but most of all to Kristen Raymond from the Housing Division in the Finance Department.

Humboldt County agendas in the last few months had information about partnering with the City of Eureka regarding funds. Like most County agendas, they give me a headache they way they are written. City of Eureka agenda's are easier to follow. The County could also follow the City of Eureka's example in prompt response and responding to all inquiries.

Ms. Raymond sent me the following response about COVID 19 rental assistance.

"At the current time the City of Eureka is no longer providing Rental/Mortgage assistance. The City implemented a program at the beginning of the Pandemic, to assist families in need of assistance. At this time those funds have been exhausted."

To eliminate duplicate benefits the state has decided that it was best to have all applicants apply through one program, solely operated through Housing & Community Development.  You can apply directly through the State of California for these funds."

City of Eureka is providing utilities assistance to eligible applicants.
