Supervisor Fennell working with "OES to make sure that Southern Humboldt will be included in PG&E’s list of Community Resource Centers in the future."
After the Board of Supervisors meeting today, Second District Supervisor Estelle Fennell was on her way to KMUD. In case you missed her Facebook post regarding this letter, working with RCEA and a Southern Humboldt CRC, it is printed below.
"This is a letter from Board of Supervisors Chair, Rex Bohn and Sheriff Billy Honsal to PG&E top executives. We are asking PG&E to work with us to ensure Humboldt’s independence from having our power shut off because there is extreme weather forecast for our neighbors to the East. It is technically possible to separate our County from the greater grid in those kinds of situations. And we need to make that happen sooner than later."
"We are also working on this issue at the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA). Energy independence is more important than ever and we must work hard on moving Humboldt forward in this regard."
"And on another note, if and when we do lose power in actual emergencies or appropriate PSPS events, I am working with OES to make sure that Southern Humboldt will be included in PG&E’s list of Community Resource Centers in the future."
