Defense says Opera Alley victim made a call at 3:30 a.m.to a synagogue


Preliminary hearing was scheduled this morning for Connor Whited. He entered a 10 day time waiver today and the hearing was rescheduled to November 25. Time estimate is two full days.

Whited is charged with the murder of Brett Keiling and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon; a club.

Whited's attorney, Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke said she received 18 disks and two thumb drives last Thursday and "was not ready today."

Ms. Van Dyke requested discovery from the People which includes "a report from the Capitol police", phone calls that Keiling made threatening a church with a AK 47 and a phone call he made the day of the Opera Alley incident to a synagogue at 3:30 a.m.

Deputy District Attorney A.J. Kamada is the prosecutor for this case.
