Alleged molestor Patricio Segura rejects 12 year offer to resolve his case

Alleged molestor Patricio Segura rejected the People's offer of 12 years to resolve his case.

A pre trial conference has been set for November 6 with both attorneys requesting judicial intervention. Trial assignment is November 8. Jury trial rescheduled to November 12. Availability of interpreters is the major reason.

11/6 update: Mariela Caceres interpreted for Segura. Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter questioned Segura and he told her that out of all the interpreters he had Kozme was the best, Carlos Santana was better than Carlos Benemann. He could not understand Benemann and Benemann had hearing issues. The problem is that only Benemann is contracted with the Humboldt Superior Court. Kozme is going to be in Shasta County full time after November 25 and other interpreters are busy. Judge Carter determined that Segura needed an interpreter he could understand. Jury trial is scheduled to start November 12.

Two interpreters will be needed for Segura during testimony. Another interpreter will be needed for a day for one of the People's witnesses.

A woman was in court today with Victim Witness and DA Investigator Ryan Hill. From the age, I would say it was Segura's wife and not Jane Doe.
