I was the first to report on the Court of Appeals ruling in Daryl Jones case. I did a post on August 19 and August 10. Today, at 1:30 p.m., I doubt anything significant will happen. I have covered this case in details for over a year, the preliminary hearing, the request for mental health diversion in detail and for months. 

After 12 plus years, mostly continuances, appeals and minor developments are not a reason for in person coverage and not every  Humboldt case is going to get a new post.

Update after hearing: I was correct. Hearing continued by stipulation to 9/21/26. Ms. Joanne Carter present for Jane Doe 1 and 2.

9/18/26: The Humboldt County DA filed a motion today to continue the 9/21 hearing before Humboldt Superior Court Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning on the defense request for mental health diversion.

Senior Deputy DA Roger Rees is scheduled to begin a jury trial that day.

9/21/26: Continued to 9/28.

9/24/26: DA motion to continue Daryl Jones'petition on mental health diversion was granted, it has been rescheduled for 10/12. Senior Deputy DA  Roger Rees is in trial; Ms. Joanne Carter, attorney for two alleged victims is also unavailable.
