In August, I reported on Lila Ortega being booked on a bench warrant in a 2024 case for organized retail theft and petty theft.
Yesterday, she was arraigned on that case. Retired Judge John Feeney appointed Conflict Counsel to represent her. Humboldt Deputy Public Defender Ehvan Schectman made special appearance at arraignment for Conflict Counsel.
Trial confirmation is 11/5; jury trial on 11/10.
Ortega's name first appeared on this blog as Kyle Zoellner's girlfriend and in my coverage of the David Josiah Lawson case in 2017 In 2018, I reported on her arrest for a DUI and possession of meth case.
11/5/25: Jury trial scheduled for 11/10 vacated. Defense request for continuance granted. Trial setting + motion for PC 1001.95 diversion scheduled for 11/13.
