Analia, the lawyer is not the problem; the gender of your attorney is not the issue; you and your repeated criminal behavior and arrests should not be rewarded with another plea

My post on Analia Soledad Martinez's most recent arrest on July 28 has details about her arrests and pleas so if you want context for this update, read that post.

Martinez's plea is in jeopardy as it should be. Analia remains unremorseful and undeterred in her bid to waste taxpayer money and blame everyone but herself.

Yesterday, before court I saw Analia on the second floor in the room where the public computers are located and a court clerk staffs the information window for a few hours each day. I don't know if Analia would have said anything to me if the clerk and Michael Acosta were not in the room yesterday. Analia told the court clerk she had requested transcripts. These will be paid for by the taxpayers since she has a public defender.

Yesterday, her change of plea was scheduled and was continued. A plea negotiated by the Public Defender's office and Deputy Public Defender Emery Welton who is assigned to her latest case. He is a good lawyer.

Mr. Welton informed the court that Analia does not want him representing her. Apparently, ungrateful Analia thinks getting a woman lawyer what she needs. Analia, the lawyer is not the problem; the gender of your attorney is not the issue; you and your repeated criminal behavior and arrests should not be rewarded with another plea. Apparently Analia intends to hire Ms. Kathleen Bryson who was not in Courtroom 3 at that time. She was in Courtroom where I went to check on another case on the trial assignment calendar. The taxpayers paid for your defense and now you can afford a private lawyer and bail? Even if Ms. Bryson is court appointed, why are the taxpayers continuing to pay for you working the system? Was this sudden development to hire Ms. Bryson after my post was published? Let's see how that decision works for you Analia. You certainly don't deserve Mr. Welton and he will be free to put more time into a more deserving client's case.

Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris agreed to the continuance. He has to review the paperwork on the new arrest. The People are waiting on the HCSO report and intend to file new charges. If that happens, Analia plea deal would most likely be pulled.

Confirmation of counsel & trial setting is scheduled for  8/21.

8/21: Ms. Kathleen Bryson retained. She still needs to file substitution of attorney. It was not in the e court system when I checked on 8/22. Trial confirmation is on 1/10/24 and jury trial on 1/22/24.  DA has still not filed new charges for her July 28 arrest.
