Convicted molestor Daniel Sanchez previously rejected the DA's offer of 55 years. Wasted court time, the DA's time, wasted his attorney's time, wasted more time with several Marsden motions. Personally, I think the fool deserved more time in prison but I am glad he saw sense and finally listened to Ms. Andrea Sullivan who he does not deserve. I was in court to see his verbal abuse of her and complete refusal to see the reality of the evidence against him for months. She still negotiated a plea for him. A resolution he would not have received with another lawyer.
His four victims will now be spared the horror of reliving their trauma in court. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor.
Sanchez' jury trial was scheduled to start today. Instead, Sanchez just pleaded guilty to five sex offenses for a total of 55 years for a determinate term and all special allegations that included life in prison were dropped. Sanchez waived his right to appeal. DA waived right to seek a life term.
Sanchez was is charged with 17 counts including forcible rape, aggravated sexual assault of a minor, rape of a conscious victim and lewd acts with a minor.
Sanchez was arrested in May 2021 by Rio Dell Police Department for PC289(d) forcible penetration with a foreign object, PC261.5(d) statutory rape, PC 288(c)(1) lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 with the defendant being at least 10 years older, PC 288.5(a) continuous sexual abuse of a child and PC 288(a) lewd or lascivious act with a minor child under 14.
During a search of his residence, RDPD found a photo montage was located that contained pictures of approximately 20 girls and young women. At that time, RDPD had said there maybe additional victims.
Judge Kaleb Cockrum took Sanchez's plea. Sentencing is on 10/27.
