To "IR" or whoever you are, why I did not publish your comment and hit piece on EPD

I have an email for news tips. You did not use that email. That was my first red flag. Email addresses with no name, no verification. Second red flag. You can have your opinion about Eureka Police Department but I don't publish hit pieces with no verification and there was nothing newsworthy about your "comment" and it is not reflective of how the community feels about EPD. 

You were miffed because EPD officers were at the event and in your opinion were too many  officers. You had some "feelings" and observations. So does everyone else in Eureka. It does not make it newsworthy. Should I be posting my "feelings" about the racist and intimidating looks I get from bikers driving around in Eureka? See how ridiculous that sounds. I do know local bikers and wanna be bikers. Some of them have made racist remarks in my presence about local tribal elders, Mexicans and  definitely have a MAGA mentality.  I called them out on it years ago when it happened and I don't associate with them.

You seem to be connected to the Bikes by the Bay event, are biased in favor of the organizers and are anti-police. When I wrote this post, I had a pretty good idea of who that email was from.

I was correct  because you sent this to another local media source and used your name, Robert Slater. You are affiliated with Bikes by the Bay and a local organizer. Why did you send it to me deceptively? The other source published it hours after my post.You have emailed me before on both my emails and never from the one I received yesterday. In your whiny piece, why did you leave out that you are a member of the local biker community and a key organizer of the Bikes by the Bay event? 

I know you read my blog Robert. I deleted what you sent me but the version printed elsewhere seems milder. Maybe readers of other local sources are not familiar with you and your business; my readers are. Will you feel intimidated by EPD next time they are near or around your business responding to crime? It certainly is an area that gets a lot of calls.

You are attacking officers who work very hard for very little pay and keep this community safe despite being micromanaged by Eureka City Hall. 

Robert, your cheap shot at EPD could be your frustration caused by other things including the fact that the Humboldt economy is tanking like the Titanic due to abysmal leadership and selfishness or the fact your annual event this year wasn't what you hoped it would be. Your event couldn't even generate enough interest last year to plan ahead to book hotel rooms at a discount. You were whining to me about the lack of response last year. I didn't see any EPD presence during our conversation. 

I am very disappointed in you Robert and this pathetic attempt to use local media for a non issue. I will not do business with anyone who is deceptive and takes unwarranted  pot shots about EPD. Most community events would be grateful for EPD presence. Halvorsen Park belongs to the public. 

Do you know how your biker brethren behave at all times? They can be rude, rowdy, obnoxious and intimidating with no respect for others using the same space whether it is at the gas station, courts or other places. Is EPD required to tell you why they have a drug sniffing dog at a public park? You make a lot of assumptions that it was directed at Bikes by the Bay event. If you all were law abiding and peaceful as you claim, why would EPD presence bother you?

I have no problem posting something that is newsworthy,  with proof provided and verification.  I have no problem holding local law enforcement or anyone in Humboldt accountable. You are barking up the wrong tree if you think you can use me to do an EPD hit piece. I am glad EPD staffed the event and with several officers. There are few things to be proud of in Eureka and Humboldt. EPD is definitely a plus.

My standards are not lax. Don't waste my time with unverified nonsense that is more suitable in the gutters of anonymous online Humboldt chat room type threads. The anonymous option is misused and abused in Humboldt by cowards and people with agendas who want to opine with no consequences and nothing to back their claims. Why is that local "conservatives" and good ole boys have so many anonymous usernames and email addresses? Like most locals, Robert you will never take on the real bullies and entrenched systems in Humboldt and those who do engage in intimidation tactics. It is easier to lash out at those protecting the community. EPD , I or anyone else are not the punching bag for those in Humboldt who cannot take responsibility for their poor choices and decisions. Robert you sent another pissy response early this morning which I expected. Maybe you aren't busy enough? I am. Another two faced Humboldtian and "conservative" who shows his true colors and will now conveniently forget all the good I did for him. You can dish it out but you can't take it?
