Attorney of forcible rape and domestic violence suspect threatens Jane Doe with "our own restraining order"

While waiting for another court case, I was there for Stephen Steed's arraignment yesterday. Steed was booked into the jail on August 8 on a Ramey warrant. Steed is out of custody. As Steed stood by his attorney, Ms. Kathleen Bryson, he clenched and unclenched his fists and his body was shaking with rage as Judge Steven Steward read charges against him. A protective order was filed in the criminal case and served. Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees appeared on the case for the People.

Steed is charged in Count one with PC 664/261 (a) (2) attempted forcible rape, Count 2 PC 664/287 (c) (2) (a) attempted forcible oral copulation, Count 3 PC 459 First degree burglary and Count 4 PC 273.5 (a) inflicting corporal injury to spouse or cohabitant. The complaint also alleges that the offenses were committed when a minor child was present on the home.

The alleged victim in this case and Steed share children. There is an ongoing family law case between the two parties. "We will respond with our own restraining order."

Steed has a temporary restraining order granted against him in his family law case against the same alleged victim in the family law case. A 2022 assault and battery case with a Jane Doe victim was dismissed. Steed has a conviction in 2021 DUI case and another conviction in a 2006 DUI case.

Preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for October 24.
