Alleged molestor pleads before trial for 6 years prison sentence

 


Yesterday at trial confirmation, alleged molestor Eduardo Sanchez-Tapia resolved his case with a conditional plea for a mid term 6 year prison sentence. He has to register as a sex offender. Tapia pleaded guilty to Count 1, PC 288 (a) lewd and lascivious act against minor Jane Doe. dismissed Count 2 PC 288 (a) was dismissed. Jury trial scheduled for 8/7 was vacated. Sentencing is on 8/15.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor on this case but she is in the middle of jury selection in a homicide trial so Deputy DA Luke Bernthal appeared for the People in court for her. Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps is Tapia's attorney. Retired Judge Christopher Wilson took the plea.

8/15: Sentenced to 6 years in prison; 458 custody credits.
