Inmate who qualified to run for Garberville Fire Protection District got probation in his criminal case

I reported on August 16 and have been the only one to report that Humboldt County inmate  Christopher Brackett qualified to run as one of three candidate for the Garberville Fire Protection District.

Brackett resolved his 2021 case at trial confirmation on 8/29. Probation was granted, Brackett waived 160 days of credit, stipulated to the aggravated term, imposition of sentence was suspended and Brackett was ordered released to Probation or their designee. He is still in custody.

Jury trial scheduled for 9/5 was vacated. In an effort to address the court backlog, there are more pleas are being negotiated and more interventions. Brackett got a good deal but can he still pursue his candidacy for Garberville Fire Protection District?

10/19: Brackett is still in custody. Jail staff has no idea why. Looking at the minutes and the way he was sentenced, he is probably waiting to get into a treatment program. He has no future court dates. Elections confirmed he is still on the ballot. Brackett was convicted of a felony after he was placed on the ballot and I explained what that means regarding his candidacy.
