At intervention for convicted sex offender and frequently arrested Randy Knopf on November 13, the preliminary hearing for November 18 was confirmed. This morning, Knopf resolved the case for his most recent arrest with a plea.
Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm was in court for the People. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo was present with Knopf.
Knopf pleaded guilty to Count 1. Special allegations were dismissed by the People as a part of the plea. The plea is an open plea with a 16 month cap, which is the low term. Knopf can also be placed on probation.
The mid term is two years; the high term is three years.
Knopf's 1995 conviction for PC 288 (a), lewd or lascivious act with a minor, requires him to register as a sex offender and he is a transient so he is required to do this every month.
Judge Lawrence Killoran took the plea today but Knopf entered an Arbuckle waiver so he can be sentenced by another Judge. Sentencing is scheduled for December 13.

Whether he gets probation or not depends on his record. But if probation is denied, he would not do his time locally, he would go to prison to do his 16 months because he is a registered sex offender, and he has a strike (the 288(a).).
