In a very systematic and powerful presentation, Deputy Public Defender led Jon Goldberg from his childhood to his marriage the time he found out about his wife's affair. Before lunch break, testimony is still at the Goldberg property and Jon and Rachel Goldberg talking.
Jon Goldberg went to Tennessee to ask Rachel Goldberg's father for her hand in marriage before he proposed to her. He remembered the exact date he met her, they dated, they got engaged, got married and how many hours his wife was in labor with their son, David.
There was a lot of new information revealed today like Jon Goldberg saying he had never seen Tim Smith Jr before court. He had only seen two of the 20 pictures; the rest before court. One was of his wife and her bare chest and the other "of her ass in a thong."
We got to hear how Tim Smith built a friendship with Jon Goldberg, events and information leading up to September 26.
As he testified about the picture of her bare breasts laying in bed, he testified that in the original picture he saw, you can see his silhouette. He was in bed next to his wife when she took that picture.
After denying the affair and gradually telling him, Jon Goldberg testified that Rachel Goldberg got down on her knees and begged him for forgiveness.
As Rachel Goldberg testified, she furst told Jon Goldberg about pictures,then kissing, then the affair. After each revelation, he took a shot "of her rum." Rachel.Goldberg drank Captain Morgan. Goldberg was mostly a beer drinker.
"I was hurt. I asked her, 'Do you know how intimate a kiss is?' He chewed tobacco. "
I said, "How did you kiss that dirty mouth?"
His reaction was "crushed, broken hearted. I had so many emotions running through my body."
He responded by telling her, "Do you realize how this will affect our lives?" In a small community, he did not want his son to be stared at as that "Goldberg kid" whose mom had an affair.
Rachel Goldberg did not tell Jon Goldberg where she and Tim Smith had sex but she told him where they kissed. One of those places was at Bridgeville Elementary where the school bus was kept. Another time it was Fisher Road.
