You will have to wait a bit to see Patrick McTigue sentenced

Former Humboldt County Building and Planning Department employee Patrick McTigue entered a plea on August 13. He is scheduled to be sentenced this morning.

Sentencing was continued to October 18 because McTigue didn’t have the probation report for the required 5 days. Defense requested the continuance. It  was granted by Judge Kaleb Cockrum since there was no objection by the People.

EPD traffic stop and sobriety test on 3rd street

EPD conducting a traffic stop and sobriety test on 3rd street a few minutes ago. EPD, despite the short staffing, does patrol areas regularly.  Only arrests and certain ones make headlines but EPD is out there because I see them day and night.

Signs do not mean anything if you don't follow the rules

Signs do not mean anything if you don't follow the rules. For months, there was talk that this barber was not following COVID 19 precautions. He is a lousy barber anyway. Safety is important when someone is using instruments that can gouge or cut you. I wouldn't get my hair cut there if it was free.

First the trash cans, now more vandalism

Bathrooms in businesses and coffee shops locked. The trash cans at the post office on 5th and H removed once; brought back; gone again.

Now individuals and businesses who pay for post office boxes and need to access the lobby after hours in the evening have to deal with more restrictions.

All because California legislators, especially the useless County Supervisors and ineffective City of Eureka allow disrespectful criminals and vandals to run this town. The City of Eureka does not even allow access to the second and third floor except for the chosen few. They fence off parts of Eureka City Hall.
