On May 4, high risk parolee, peeping Tom and convicted sex offender Charles Flinn had four cases on calendar on May 4. Three from 2019 and one from 2018.

Humboldt County has met the criteria for Phase 2

The Board of Supervisors are still meeting today, May 5. Phase 2 and the eviction moratorium are what most people are concerned about and those items were dealt with before the Board went into closed session.

Effective May 18, civil, family law and probate hearings to resume via phone and video conferencing



Effective Monday, May 18, 2020, Humboldt Superior Court will resume civil, family law, and probate calendars using remote video and phone conferencing.

Jail planning to reopen visitation within the next two weeks



Recently, several Humboldt County Correctional Deputies were tested for COVID-19 as a precautionary measure to ensure our incarcerated population remains virus free. All deputies tested were negative for the virus.

Setting of preliminary date and motion of return for property was heard this morning in GOP vandalism suspect Michael Valls case.

Valls is charged with second degree burglary, vandalism of the local GOP office and two counts of resisting/obstructing a police officer. 

Richard French charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon


Richard French was arraigned yesterday.  He is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. Bail remains set at $35,000.

No additional COVID 19 cases confirmed today

Humboldt County’s total case count remains at 54 as no additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today.

Newsom says state can begin to move into Stage 2 of modifying the stay at home order on May 8; counties sooner if they meet criteria


As the state continues implementation of the four-stage framework to allow Californians to gradually reopen some lower-risk businesses and public spaces while continuing to preserve public health, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that based on the state’s progress in meeting metrics tied to indicators, the state can begin to move into Stage 2 of modifying the stay at home order this Friday, May 8, with guidelines released Thursday, May 7.

Routine, elective and preventive health care to resume in Humboldt County

Humboldt County Public Health, the Office of the Governor, the California Department of Public Health and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have recommended that health care systems resume deferred routine, elective and preventive health care.

Murder suspect Ronald Loureiro's case is no different than other jury trials being rescheduled right now


Trial confirmation was scheduled this morning for murder suspect Ronald Loureiro. At the last hearing, Judge Christopher Wilson stated that the jury trial scheduled for May 18 will not proceed on that date.

for PC594(b)(2)(A), vandalism where a person maliciously defaces, damages or destroys real or personally property that is not his own. He was also released on OR.
