Colusa Superior Court Presiding Judge Jeffrey Thompson is my favorite Humboldt Visiting Judge.
Can we keep Colusa Superior Court Presiding Judge Jeffrey Thompson here for a while?
What a difference a judge makes. Yesterday, two nuisance repeat offenders got the reality check they needed.
I have been adding updates on Analia Martinez' cases to the March 23 post. The Public Defender used to represent Martinez. She has a private attorney now, Mark Pelta.
The summary below from my March post still applies.
"Most of my readers, anyone that is associated with the the Humboldt County Courthouse and criminal justice system and the Humboldt County DA's office, law enforcement are familiar with repeat offender Analia Martinez, all her cases, her multiple arrests and violations of a protective order.
I am not going to link all the posts I have done on her.
A local attorney, her ex have restraining orders, I was going to get one and that option is still open."
I was in Courtroom 2 yesterday for an OR bail hearing for Martinez's four cases. Mr. Pelta appeared via Zoom, asked for release and said Martinez would get therapy.
Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer summarized with details why Martinez should not be released. She did an excellent job. The difference is Judge Thompson listened and made the right decision for public safety. There is a paper trail corroborating what Ms. Schaffer said about Martinez. OR & supervised release denied. On 7/23, I hope this case is in front of a judge who will grant the DA's motion to terminate mental health diversion and reinstate criminal proceedings. The Public Defender disqualified Humboldt Superior Court Judge Lawrence Killoran so the only hope for Martinez' ex, the lawyer who has the restraining order, me and the public is if Judge Steven Steward or Judge Thompson hear that motion.
Martinez has not been released by any judge this time. Mental health diversion has not worked. She needs to take a plea before the next hearing or her cases need to go before a jury. The public cannot afford another bad ruling by any other Humboldt judge or someone like Visiting Judge Ksenia Tsenin.
The other update is on Jorden and Melissa Sterling's cases. The update is a combination of me being in the courtroom, court minutes and information from sources. Court minutes were confusing about the time waiver in the 2026 and I am not wasting time chasing down the minor inconsistencies.
That explaination is for Courtney who thinks she knows journalism, the law and acts worse than a toddler every time I see her. I do have to give her points for dedication for being such a "loyal reader and fan."
Since Courtney only knows one gesture, I will use it on her, talk to the hand.
Jordo is pro per. In the morning, he was late for his 2026 co-defendant case with mama Sterling. She is represented by Ms. Andrea Sullivan.
The 7/13 jury trial was vacated and rescheduled for 8/10. Both defendants entered a limited time waiver. Jordo who thinks being a pita at every hearing means something is mistaken. Other than his boo Courtney; no one gives a damn.
Jordo thought by him claiming not to waive time, he would get his way. A continuance was requested by Ms. Sullivan. It was granted. That is because she is a lawyer. Jordo has no clue. Other than clogging up court resources and hanging out on I street at the clerks or the courthouse every day with dramatic Courtney; he has achieved nothing. Unless you count his Humboldt arrests and cases. I covered him since 2018.
In the 2026 case, Jordo has a hearing on 7/22 for motion return of property + motion to compel+ motion to compel discovery and a motion to supress. Couldn't think of any more document names to file, might as well throw in the kitchen sink Jordo.
Jordo's other cases were continued to 2 p.m.
CR2502755B is trailing, Jordo waived time in that case. On 7/22, there is a hearing on motion to compel discovery + motion to dismiss. Readiness Conference on 8/18; jury trial on 8/31.
CR2401780 another Jordo case is trailing. Court minutes stated OR bail is moot; matter off calendar.
Judge Thompson denied the OST filed by Jordo that morning 7/13/26. I loled when I read that; usually Jordo waits until the day before, the last minute to file paperwork. Yesterday, in the morning, when the cases are on at 8:30?
Playing pretend lawyer Jordo does not work with judges. Some Humboldt judges are patient but you needed yesterday's lesson.
In another 2026 case, Jordo picked up, CR2602497, preliminary hearing is on 7/17.
Jordo and Courtney were smirking and snickering in court when they saw me yesterday afternoon. They thought I was there to see them. Wrong again.
Jordo, you are boring. Your cases are a snooze. If Ms. Sullivan was not representing your mom in the child abduction case, I would not check regularly on your cases except to see the outcome or resolution. It was hilarious to see Retired Humboldt Judge Christopher Wilson school you in court. Now Judge Thompson.
The court clerks have work to do and people with legit filings. Courtney and you should sign up for drama school or find a hobby. You are one of hundreds of Humboldt repeat offenders with multiple cases.
