I covered convicted felon Justin Patrick's 2016 arrest and case and I am the only one who has reported and done posts on the Humboldt County District Attorney's petition to declare Patrick a sexually violent predator.
HCSO did not inform you. The other media did not; I did. Of course, they may follow up on it now, days and weeks after I pointed this out; yet again.

Today, future dates were set for Patrick's court trial on the Humboldt County DA's petition to declare him a SVP. On 12/11/26, there is a pre trial conference and status of transport from the State Hospital. Readiness Conference is on 1/12/27 and court trial on 1/25/27. Time estimate is three weeks.
Senior Deputy District Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for the case. Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian represents Patrick.
