Defense to file an order to show cause since Wesley Starritt has not been transported

Confirmation of transport was scheduled for assault suspect Wesley Starritt on September 5. Since he has not been transported, Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield said he will file an order to show cause today.

The jury trial for former Miss Hoopa's alleged sexual case was supposed to start on September 5. It was trailing" another jury trial in Courtroom 3. . The alleged victim is a female, a minor when the alleged conduct took place. 

Another funding order granted for Marci Kitchen ?

I already reported on one funding order filed for on August 20, the same day she entered her change of plea. That was granted on August 27.

Yesterday, the same day her custodial status hearing was scheduled  another funding order granted.

Since both these funding orders have been after Marci Kitchen entered her plea, as the link below explains, most likely they have to do with a sentencing report requested by defense.

Joshua Strange charged with four felonies all counts include the same alleged victim

Alleged molestor Joshua Strange is charged with four felonies. Jane Doe, alleged victim for all counts.

Arraignment is scheduled at 1:29 this afternoon. Bail is 1.4 millon. Mr. David Nims made a special appearance in court today for Strange. He requested arraignment be continued for a week and confirmation of counsel be set for the same day.

On September 12, Mr. Nims will confirm if he has been retained by Strange. Limited discovery was provided to Mr. Nims by Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads.

September 12 update:

Public Defender was appointed since Strange could not retain Mr. David Nims. OR/Bail is on 9/14. Intervention is on 9/19. Preliminary hearing is on 9/24.

Marci Kitchen is being housed in Unit 377 in the Humboldt County jail. It is one of the female housing units. One tier is protective and one tier is solitary in that unit.

Judge Cockrum incorrect about first media request in Marci Kitchen case; is he playing favorites?

By only allowing one still camera and one video camera in the courtroom, Judge Kaleb Cockrum is playing favorites. If he is going to limit it to two media outlets, the photos and video should be ordered to be made available to all media covering the case.

Judge Cockrum could also order court staff to take still photos and video. That materisl could be fairly distributed from a neutral source to all media. It would also address the security concerns and not being disruptive to court proceedings.

Marci Kitchen brought into courtroom, she turned her face away from the audience

Dressed in blue,with no makeup on, cuffed, Marci Kitchen was brought into the courtroom this morning. The only one there to support her was Mel Pearlston, Josh Pearlston's father.

She turned her face away, told her attorney, "I don't want..." and then she was taken out of the courtroom. Since Marci Kitchen has a 977 waiver of personal appearance on file, her attorney can appear on her behalf.

Marci Kitchen booked into Humboldt County jail yesterday

A September 4 hearing on Marci Kitchen's custody status was scheduled for September 4. Instead, yesterday at 3:17 on Labor Day, it shows that Marci Kitchen was booked into the Humboldt County jail.

So besides seeing the writing on the wall, what's this twist about? Time will tell.
