Edward Starkey pleads to kidnapping and special allegation to avoid longer prison sentence for more violent crimes

I reported on Edward Starkey in 2018 and on his 2022 arrest for false imprisonment, torture, sexual battery, kidnapping, domestic violence and great bodily injury.

Today,  at trial assignment, Starkey resolved his case. Starkey pleaded guilty to Count 2  Kidnapping and admitted an added special allegation to Count 2 PC12022.7(e) great bodily injury for a total of 12 years in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for the case. Public Defender's office represents Starkey. The jury trial date for Monday was vacated. Sentencing is on October 12.

9/15 Court minutes (plea):

10/12: Sentencing continued by PD to 10/18 because Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is ill.

10/18: Deputy District Attorney Jessica Acosta appeared for Deputy DA Whitney Timm. Starkey has 711 local jail custody credits towards his 12 year prison sentence. Unless he screws up, he will get more custody credits in prison.
