Sunshine Asian Massage owner and alleged cohort remanded in court on pimping, pandering and maintaining a brothel case


Rongqiu Li was remanded in court yesterday after arraignment for PC 243.4(e)(1) domestic battery, LC 3700.5(a) failure to have worker compensation coverage , PC 315 maintaining a brothel, PC 182(a)(1) conspiracy to commit a felony, PC 266i (a)(1) pandering and PC 266 h (a) pimping. Li posted bond.

Li owns Sunshine Asian Massage. The permit was revoked  by Eureka Police Department earlier in May 2023 for violation of Eureka Municipal code 117. City of Eureka attorney Autumn Luna confirmed, "Mr. Li’s permit to operate and certificate of registration were revoked by letter dated May 30, 2023. " 





Xiao Chun Wang was also remanded in court after arraignment yesterday for LC 3700.5(a) failure to have worker compensation coverage, PC 315 maintaining a brothel, PC 182(a)(1) conspiracy to commit a felony, PC 266i(a)(1) pandering, and PC 266 h(a). Wang posted bond. She is his co-defendant in the 2023 case.

There are five alleged victims.

Bail was set at $55,000 for both by Judge Steven Steward. Beverly Hills' attorney, Mr. Kevin Cole appeared for both defendants. Next court date is September 8 for confirmation of preliminary hearing; the preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 13 for both Li and Wang.




9/8: 9/13 date vacated. Pre trial on 10/2; preliminary on 10/17. 


10/2: Mr. Kevin Cole requested continuance for both defendants; granted by Judge Kelly Neel. The 10/17 date was vacated, Pre trial for confirmation of interpreters on 12/6; preliminary hearing on 12/19.
