Just spoke with Elections office. The number of unverified signatures were 2,790. The number of sufficient signatures were 1,974. That exceeds the minimum amount required.
I did a post yesterday on a group formed to oppose this initiative and the process with a response from Eureka City Assistant Manager and City Clerk Pam Powell.
I just received an email from Ms. Powell. "Please find attached the correspondence provided to Mr. Munson and Ms. Constantine-Blackwell and their attorney." The matter will be on the agenda for the next Eureka City Council meeting on October 17.
While Mike Munson and Michelle Costantine-Blackwell have their names as the ones bringing forward the petition, it is common knowledge that the Eureka Housing for All website is funded by Security National.
On 10/2, I received this statement from Munson, "We were always confident we had the signatures to move this initiative forward to allow the City of Eureka voters to weigh in on the important issues of housing and the economic vitality of downtown.”
