Filmmaker and veteran Gordon Clatworthy, the first and only potential challenger to First District Supervisor Rex Bohn in the 2024 election got the Humboldt "screen test" in the first 24 hours after he announced his candidacy. Lots of criticism, some helpful feedback and the anonymous but obvious trolls attacking him. He has a Pride flag on his website. I can see the meltdown of the mini but vocal anti LGBTQ contigent and other silent haters already who are prepping future BOS public meeting rants.

The first obvious change is the photo he has on his profile and website. He did not snark like Rex; he did not get defensive; he listened to the public. Gordon or anyone else in the next election should earn your vote and it should be an informed one. Even if you read previous coverage, there is some new information on his website.
On his website, Clatworthy has written he does not accept donations and asks for volunteers. Clatworthy did file a 501 and made a prior comment that he did so before soliciting donations. I reached out to him to clarify and he responded promptly.
"I was taking a jab at rex. I'm really trying to show that I can run a campaign with less money then "spend and spew" rex."
Gordon, I hope community members continue to engage you in substantive discussions. Who else wans to throw their hat in the First District race? More choice of candidates is good for democracy.
If Rex's campaign wants to send press releases, they have my email. I will print what is sent. Although, the cookie cutter, sanitized, recycled Facebook strategy with bland photos and boring 2nd grade press releases that Storme thinks are top secret are a waste of space.
