Maybe Rex's challenger and Petrolia residents could update the public on Rex and Connie Stewarts brag about bandwith and how it is working 7 years later?

First District Supervisor Rex Bohn's challenger in the next election, Gordon Clatworthy, went to the Beef and Beans barbeque at the Mattole Grange on Labor Day weekend. Looks like the incumbent and challenger will be at another event today. Rexy is going to have to share the spotlight.

I spoke with Clatworthy this afternoon briefly. He was in Redway and headed for a 5 p.m. meeting to share some information on community broadband networks. Clatworthy did not have much time to talk and forwarded me an email exchange to explain why he was headed there. As you can see from the exchange, Clatworthy chose community over promoting himself. Clatworthy sent me two flyers.

I know how political campaigns are run in Humboldt County. I definitely know how the good ole boys operate. These tactics aren't just limited to political campaigns but anyone challenging the good ole boys and gals. It isn't limited by political party. It is the entrenched status quo vs anyone who stands up for the People. Dirty tricks, anonymous submissions and anonymous comments. I looked up Clatworthy in the local court system. It isn't any different than me looking up other candidates. Facts are always good for the public. Better to put out accurate information now than wait for last minute anonymous "surprises" thrown out a few days before the election.

The court records I have included in this post indicate Clatworthy was granted a restraining order against a former partner/spouse. Some of the entries in this family law case were confusing which isn' t a first for Humboldt court records. I am not posting the restraining order because it lists a minor child. Clatworthy protected his child.

Clatworthy has 2017 infraction with proof of correction made and dismissal of fines which is less egregious than Matthew Gilbert's June 2023 infraction in his beemer.

James Faulk's email:

Hi Gordon,

I’d like to chat with you about your candidacy for 1st District supervisor, as part of our show, Headline Humboldt, on KEET-TV.

I’d like to run a short story announcing your candidacy, and then follow that up soon with a longer interview.

Can we do that? My number is (phone number) —let me know?

Warm regards,

James Faulk

Gordon Clatworthy's response:

Yes, I would be happy to. Unfortunately I won't be able to talk today, I'll be at the grange between honeydew and petrolia for the 5pm meeting between frontier, pg&e, and Rex Bohn due to the horrid internet and cell service those communities are experiencing. Some people can't even make telehealth appointments and must drive over 2 hours into town.

I'm showing up to talk about the options those communities have for setting up a community owned broadband networks and how as district supervisor I would support them.

Again, I wish I would be able to call or message you but the service is horrible.

Please email me dates and times that you need me and I'll be there.
